Summary:figairy (stick Bill: this looks v. interesting. The object itself--ax helve or stick--well--remembered as an essential balancing tool to take the weight, create the balance, needed to carry a relly big 'stick.' Any ideas on the reported form? I can't remember what we used to call it--'fairing stick? or something.' Right-handed people like me would carry the log on the right shoulder, and place the 'figairy' over the left shoulder, slantwise across to take the weight of the log. JDAW?
