Summary:floe . four or five species are pursued off the shores of Newfoundland and in the Arctic Regions proper, viz -- the "ground" or "grown" seal, the saddle-back, or harp seal, so called from the saddle or harp-shaped mark on the back of the males, the bladder-nose, and the floe rat -- which is the smallest species found in the North Atlantic, and much more rarely the spotted seal, or "kassigak" of the Eskimo. .
