Summary:fat a This is a term used i Badger's Quay to mean pat pork cut into small pieces (scrunchons) and fried so that grease will be made to put on a meal of fish & potatoes. "Please pass the fat" is a common reply at the dinner table. It is said with a smile, a happy feeling, for "fish & potatoes" is a very good meal in Newfoundland. It is usually eaten on Wednesdays or Fridays. In my home we call it "grease" - "please pass the grease."
