Magotty: When any the smallest quantity of fresh or rain to which water is suffered to lodge in any part of the fish; this may be codfish codfish prevented by sprinkling immediately some salt on the is prin-part; or when the splitter has left the many joints of the bone, cipally so that any quantity of blood has remained; - or where there is liable too great a quantity of fish in the water horse so that they cannot get it in time. Bad weather will make it so, when spread on the flake. Also, when whilst it is drying on the flake, the weather happens to be hot and calm, the flies will gather about it, and leave on it fly-blows, which will seen turned into maggots, if not prevented in time, by removing the fly-blows with the fingers or a small stick.
