Description
Summary:Dawney "Gibbet Hill" This a little mound on top of a high high, on the north side of Hr. Grace, so named because a man named Dawney was once alleged to have been hanged there by the townspeople. Dawney was a wicked man who dreadfully abused people and killed a couple of children, allegedly. The murders were supposed to have been terribly brutal and so angered the people that they took the law into their own hands and made away with Dawney on Gibbet Hill There is quite a legend attached to that but I don't remember it all.
