When the priest came to the house, he was met at the door by one of the [livers?] carrying a lighted candle (holy), which had been blessed (2) - In many homes a "sick kit" was kept. This was a box in the shape of a cross. The lid held the holy candle, and the cross shaped box was put on wall. It also contained holy water. also called _death kit_(2). When a person is dying the _scaphler_ is put on. This is a cord chain with a small piece of cloth containing a picture of the Sacred Heart or Eucharist (bread) (2). Holy candles. DNE-cit G.M.
