| Summary: | card [The wool] was in the rough stage, meaning that it had merely been shorn from the sheep, washed and teased out. The mother-in-law now carded with two wooden 'card,' these being wooden hand-sized slabs with wire hooks covering one side of each. These are pulled against each other over a portion of the rough wool, thus tearing the fibres straight and forming a roll of more or less straight fibres. These rolls were then passed to me and I would spin them into yarn with the small foot-propelled spinning wheel. PRINTED ITEM JH G. M.
