| Summary: | colcannon n "Colcannon Night" was, in my mother's community, October 31st. There was no custom of Hallowe'en mummering, but it was traditional to serve the Colcannon dish. This consisted of turnips, potatoes, cabbage, mixed together, with butter in the center. Meat, perhaps rabbit, might also be served. Often there was a party in someone's house - a "hall", with dancing and singing. .
