| Summary: | cobby house Children's Games When I used to play at housekeeping with girls my own age, about 8-15 years ago, we used to call it "_cobby-house_", or simply "cobby." We would collect old dishes and utensils from our parents and set up a cobby-house among some flat rocks, or sometimes in a barn, or a [reverse] little house constructed for that purpose. If we were fortunate enough to have a little house, we made curtains for the window and procured chairs, or improvised benches and table, to make it look authentic. We generally, whether indoors or out, divided our house mentally, into kitchen, bedroom, and living room areas. We made soup from water and various leaves and weeds, cakes from mud baked in the sun and decorated with flour petals, and even cookies. We sent the "father" off to work and gave him quite an earful if he came home "too early, it's not dinner-time yet!", and went through all the motions of cooking, clearing, eating, and sleeping.
