Description
Summary:chin n The following expression was given to me by a friend from Renews who heard it from her father. Up until about 60-70 years ago, the type of music at weddings was termed "chin-music", that is singing. I heard this expression before at home in Buchans but I thought it meant the fiddle or some similar instrument. However, my informant told me that if the people had no instruments, which sometimes happened, they called for 'chin-music" and someone would sing. The singing was just sounds like "da da da da dee deedy de de" These sounds were kept up for hours. yes DNE-cit JH 2/72 Used I and Sup Used I and Sup Not used CHIN MUSIC, MOUTH MUSIC Checked by Cathy Wiseman on Sun 26 Apr 2015; Card marked DNE-cit, but not used.
