Summary: | bag n This is a term used when the cod fish is very plentiful - so plentiful that one trap skiff would not be able to carry the capacity of one trap. The remainder would be put in a net the shape of a bag, and tied to the trap, until the fishermen had time to come for it. "Dad and them got the bag on" was a common and joyous remark when I went to school. That was before the inshore fishery had declined to the present position.
