My mother knows the term but never placed any belief in it and I heard the term from her. No one believes in it now or the younger generation do no know the term at all. The "Banshee" was also heard of in Cape Broyle. For example it could be used in threats against children, e.g. my mother told me that my Grandfather used to tell her if she didn't come in before dark, "the "Banshee" [-]would[-] will take you."
