Plan of Fort Townshend : which in conjunction with the works at the entrance is calculated to defend the Harbour of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland from the sea and to resist the attack of two thousand men from the landside without cannon, as specified in the order from the right honble the Master General & the principal officers of the ordnance in May 1772, to Capt.n Rob.t Pringle, engineer, under whose direction these works were finished in the year 1700.
