| Summary: | Realizing how little about Newfoundland's military history was included in Canada's education system, the authors of this book set out to inform young Newfoundlanders about their province's military history. From fighting with the British to defeat the Americans in the Revolutionary War in 1775 to fighting with the Allies in WWII, Newfoundlanders had an extensive and important military history before joining Confederation. The authors wanted to educate students about this proud history by concentrating on the areas of battle in which Newfoundland soldiers were involved.
