Newfoundland is referenced in this volume, mainly in regard to the natural resources of importance to Britain; fish and iron. Notes that the senior Hakluyt was well acquainted with men who had been on voyages to Newfoundland, as well as men who saw the value of Newfoundland as a permanent colony; included is a letter from M. A. Parkhurst to the senior Hakluyt detailing Newfoundland's resources and the people who were availing of them.
