1st edition. A cookbook of Newfoundland recipes, collected from all over the province and selected to "preserve the distinctive cooking art of our Island along with good standard recipes used in any home" (p. [3]). Includes a list of the over 3000 contributors who sent in recipes, which were then selected for publication by the Newfoundland Home Economics Association. Editor Sally West, in addition to working for Maple Leaf Mills, had a radio program on CJON entitled "What's Cooking" and it was via radio that word of the cookbook project was spread (p. [2-3],126-7).
