Catholic Bishop of Newfoundland John Thomas Mullock (bishop 1850-69) consecrated the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in St. John's on 9 September 1855. The Cathedral's construction had begun under Bishop Fleming in May 1841. Includes extensive descriptions of the building's interior, p. 1-4. Alternative title from p. 1. -- The Cathedral was elevated to a Basilica in 1955.
