Summary:This report contains details about work carried out in 1948 within the St. John's and outport districts as well as the cottage hospitals and nursing stations, according to the divisions of the Departmental Nursing Service. The services provided by the divisions include the education of both staff and public, holding clinics and blood banks, and disease control. As this report is the the first filed since Newfoundland had become a province, a history of nursing services on the island is provided for the benefit of the other provinces in Canada.
