Summary:This book is a description of the time the author spent living with the Eskimos of Northern Canada. Chapters include his voyage north with a whaling fleet, learning to build an igloo, travelling in an Eskimo skin-boat, rafting down the Porcupine River, hunting polar bears, seals and caribou, and learning to create a fishing camp. Throughout the book there is much discussion of the climate of the North, as well as of the social customs of the Eskimo people. A number of photographs accompany this text.
