Summary:This book is a description of Newfoundland in 1911, the coronation year of George V. Sections include information on geography, the Reid contract, a biography of Sir Edward Morris, and some historical information, such as the discovery of Newfoundland by John and Sebastian Cabot. Other chapters deal predominantly with the Aboriginals, the road and rail systems in Newfoundland, the lumber and fishing industries, and mineral resources such as coal and iron. The French colony of St. Pierre and Miquelon is discussed, along with the whaling and sealing industries. The governmentof Newfoundland and Labrador, and the culture of the population, are also described.
