Summary:Over the past ten years, the Harris Centre has funded, supported, and fostered numerous research projects, public forums, workshops, and conferences, contributing to our understanding of important issues facing Newfoundland and Labrador. In this report, we will identify some of the province’s major demographic and labour market issues highlighted in these works and contextualize them within broader sociological themes. We will also discuss how the Harris Centre can expand its scope to further develop links between the provincial issues and the national and global trends. The demographics of Newfoundland and Labrador are rapidly changing, which has significant implications for the province’s labour markets. In 1996, the province’s largest age groups were in their 30s to mid 40s and their teens to mid-20s
