Description
Summary:This article provides an overview and analysis of the context of the Newfoundland fishery problem (1713−1904) and its importance for the signing of the Entente Cordiale, which is often overlooked by historians dealing with the Anglo–French rapprochement. This paper expands and complements the author's dissertation thesis on the Entente Cordiale and focuses on the role of Newfoundland in the process of the negotiation of the convention.
