Summary:Date: 2023-05-30Level: Bachelor thesis in Business Administration, 15 creditsInstitution: School of Business, Society and Engineering, Mälardalen University Authors: Kristian Dabeski Sami Eid Mohammad (02/02/24) (01/04/19)Title: Recruitment processes in Theory and PracticeSupervisor: Johan Grinbergs Keywords: Ideal Recruitment process, 360˚ model, the Assessment Circle and 12-step model Research questions: What challenges and consequences can arise when there is a gap between the organisation’s theoretical and practical application of recruitment processes?How can the ideal-typical recruitment processes be evaluated based on usability and applicability in practice?Purpose: The purpose of this study is to study a recruitment process and deepen understanding of recruitment processes using ideal-typical recruitment models.Method: This study uses a qualitative research method with semi-structured interviews to collect empirical data from interviewees with different experience in recruitment.Conclusion: The gap between theory and practice in recruitment processesregarding, among other things, job describtion, assessement criteria and interview format can lead to several challenges and consequences. Lack of clear assessment criteria can contribute to unfairness which can reduce the reliability of the process. Unclear job descriptions and deviations from the recommended interview format can create misleading expectations and thus lead to dissatisfaction and high staff turnover.The ideal recruitment processes can be uselful as a basis for developing an effective recruitment process that is adapted to the organization according to specific needs, taking into account the conditions for achieving the best result.
