Summary:This examination paper in sociology is called “Social enterprises need for support - a qualitative study of the possibility of a common support structure”, written by Caroline Johansson. The aim of the study is to, within the geographical demarcation Luleå-Piteå-Boden-Älsvbyn in the northern regions of Sweden, examine the social enterprises need for support. This include what they lack for support, where the support come from and whether there are common needs that can be coordinated for the common good of the enterprises. The approach of the study is qualitative and the method of collecting data is through interviews with the cooperative workers, to underline their point of view, and also with representatives from both the authorities and the business advice company Coompanion Norrbotten (who initiated the study), this aims to examine the extent to which external parties is needed for the support of the social enterprises. Social capital is used as a theoretical concept in analyzing the material. The results of the study shows that the need for support vary in the different social enterprises, but the need for help with administrative tasks, better financial support from the municipality and better ways of meeting other social enterprises through networking are the most important findings, the study emphasizes the importance of the concept of social capital in a way of building a common support structure with the help of the local community.
