Description
Summary:Previous research has shown that a good culture within an organization results in job satisfaction, role clarity, and effectiveness. Organizational climate is the employees’ common perceptions of the organization and could be seen as a superficial and more available aspect of organizational culture. This thesis aims to investigate and measure the organizational climate at Piteå municipality’s department for Technology and Streets (TG). The organizational climate was measured by a questionnaire encompassing ten climate dimensions, in which 88 percent of the department’s employees participated. The results show high values in all dimensions, indicating a creative and innovative climate. The highest values were found in the dimensions Trust/Openness and Playfulness/Humor. TG is a quite new organization and is under development. Recently, it has undergone big changes in its daily work. For a successful development without risk for stagnation, the organization should make sure that every employee participates in debates and discussions about the department’s development and future. Further, the employees should be given more time to develop new ideas and conflicts within the organization as well as internal dissatisfaction should be dealt with more swiftly. The department would most likely benefit from being more innovative and daring to try out new ideas and methods. Validerat; 20131111 (global_studentproject_submitter)
