Method: Data collection was performed using a systematic search of the literature in various databases via the library at Luleå Technical University, secondary searches were also conducted. Thence the quality of the articles was examined. Two theoretical grids based on the therapeutic strategy of Model of Human Occupation [MOHO] and the therapeutic use of self the Intentional Relationship Model [IRM] was used to identify similarities and differences between the models. A total of eleven articles were used in the result, nine qualitative and two quantitative. The articles were examined by the support from the theoretical grids. Two tables based on each grid was designed to clarify the concepts separately and to demonstrate which article contained the concepts. Results: The results show a variety of therapeutic strategies and therapeutic use of self are used by occupational therapists in palliative care where all the concepts based on the theoretical grids occurred. This shows that occupational therapists in this area largely use different approaches and strategies in client work, which according to occupational therapy theory is important to support engagement in activity of the patient. Furthermore, it appears that occupational therapists consciously uses various therapeutic strategies and therapeutic use of self which assigns to a client centered approach. All concepts based on MOHO and IRM occurred in the result. Conclusion: Based on the examined articles it appears that the concepts based on MOHO and IRM has much in common with each other. MOHO's therapeutic strategies and IRM's therapeutic use of self covers the same areas but with different concepts and approaches. The differences that could be distinguished was that the concepts identifying and providing physical support since those concepts were not described ...
