Description
Summary:The study deals with a complex problem connected to the situation of recruiting students to Swedish universities. There is increasing competition between universities as well as between the applying students. The aim of the study is to contribute to the knowledge of the pattern of students applying to universities by describing and explaining those patterns while both groups of recruiting universities and groups of applying students are competing. Two research questions, which are connected to the aim and the segmentation model, will be answered: How are students´ way of prioritizing universities affected by the distance between their home residence and selected universities? A predominant pattern of applying to universities is that the distance between a student´s home residence and their selected universities does affect their way of giving priority to universities. Student´s senior high school grades, however, do not affect student´s way of giving priority to universities, to the same extent. Godkänd; 1998; 20061120 (haneit)
