Summary:Norman Reginald Dower was born on August 10, 1911 to James and Emmeline Dower in St. Johns, Newfoundland. "Reggie" was the sixth of seven children. He enrolled in Washington Missionary College, studying to be a minister and worked at the Review and Herald to put himself though school. While in college he met Catherine (Kay) Carlson. He graduated in 1935, and later married Catherine that same year. In 1936 he was called to Atlantic Union College to be the dean of men and Bible teacher. Shortly there after, Dower left and became a pastor in the Harrisburg district in Pennsylvania. He also established a church in Elizabethville. In 1939, he and his wife moved to Flint, Michigan where he became a pastor of a church there. In 1946 Dower was called to the presidency of the Texico Conference
