Description
Summary:Nowadays in the modern world full of various threats, states tend to unite in defence alliances or military cooperation organizations in order to ensure their security against opposing forces. NORDEFCO is a military cooperation organization between Nordic countries, based in the Northern European region and including five Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland. The Russian Federation, which has disrupted peace in Europe, has raised Nordic countries’ concerns about their own security through the annexation of Crimea, which has intensified the activities of most defense and security unions. NORDEFCO is no exception, since 2014, the organization‘s activities have become much more intensive than before. The period from 2017 to 2020 itself is practically not covered in the scientific literature, so it is important to find out for what reasons and how the activities of this organization have changed in this military cooperation during this period. The cooperation of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland in the NORDEFCO military cooperation from 2017 to 2020 is the subject of this study, which will answer the question: how and why has the NORDEFCO military cooperation changed from 2017 to 2020? In the theorethical part of the work, a comparative method and a case study will be applied, and in the situation assessment part, the method of qualitative analysis of the content of documents will be applied.
