Regardless of the relations between persistent regional weather anomalies and their potential predictors identified in this study, the main task did not include developing the methodology of forecasting anomalies. On the other hand, the most important “derivations” of the persistent temperature and precipitation anomalies are droughts and floods. The former has a rather long memory and depends on the accumulated effect of circulation patterns.
