Summary:Recently, plants of the Ericaceae Juss family which comprises 103 genera species and are spread from the Antarctic regions to tropics exceptfor deserts, steppes and humid tropics, are being abundantly imported to Lithuania. In ornamental gardening a highbush blueberry (Vaccinium x covilleanum Butkus et Pliszka sin. Vaccinium corymbosum L.) becomes popular; it is being cultivated not just as a berry plant, but also as an ornamental plant. The ornamentak value of blueberries depend upon the properties of the variety. Many varieties abundantly or moderately blossom and fruit, therefore, plantations of this not traditional plant are beeing established in Lithuania.For ornamental puposes a highbush blueberry can be applied as a solitary plant or composed in groups matching the height of a bush, its shape, colours of shoots and leaves.
