Description
Summary:Breeding bird communities and densities of local populations of vegetation type Vaccinlosa, Vaccinio-Pinetum, belonging to plant associations Peucedano-Pineturn sylvestris and Leucobtyo-Pinetum sylvestris and of vegetation type Myrtil-losa, Myrtillo-Pinetum, belonging to plant association Molinio-Pinetum sylvestris (West Taiga habitat, code - 9010) has been studied for 11 years in Lithuania in two study plots. It was revealed that pine forests of vegetation type Myrtillo-Pinetum, in comparison with type Vaccinio-Pinetum are characterised by bigger bird species diversity and higher species richness. Statistically important differences are not essential ecologically. Species registered in one of vegetation types are mostly marginal, more characteristic for non-pine forests. Bird species which population densities differ considerably, depending on vegetation types studied, are listed.
