Summary:The foundations of Icelandic pension system were laid in 1969, when trade unions agreed with employers that instead of increasing workers’ wages there will be created a fully funded mandatory occupational pension funds system. In nowadays Icelandic pension system comforts some serious challenges, such as, maintaining financial stability after financial crisis, Europe countries debt problems, which caused disturbance in world markets and Iceland demographic problems. In this paper there will be analyzed some of most threatening problems for Icelandic pension system.
