Comparative analysis of genomic DNA fragments of duck and goose subfamily of the order Anseriformes

The genomic DNA of eight species of the Anatinae subfamily - Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), Gadwall (A. strepera), Wigeon (A. penelope), Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligida), Pochard (A. ferina), Goosander (Mergus merganser), Sheld-duck (Tadorna tadoma), Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis) and seven specie...

Description
Summary:The genomic DNA of eight species of the Anatinae subfamily - Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), Gadwall (A. strepera), Wigeon (A. penelope), Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligida), Pochard (A. ferina), Goosander (Mergus merganser), Sheld-duck (Tadorna tadoma), Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis) and seven species of the Anserinae subfamily - Greater White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons), Greylag Goose (A. anser), Lesser White-fronted Goose (A. erythropus), Bean Goose (A. fabalis), Canada Goose (Branta canadensis), Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) and Mute Swan (C. olor) has been extracted. The extracted DNA was amplified by the RAPD method using ten random primers. The number of the amplified DNA fragments ranged in different duck species from 4 to 37 fractions and the DNA product size from 150 to 3000 bp. The smaller number of DNA fragments ranged among different goose species between (6-30). The genetic similarity among the species of the subsystems studied has been defined and the dendrogram based on the UPGMA method was constructed. In the dendrogram, one cluster forms M. merganser, C. hyemalis, T. tadorna and A. platyrhynchos and the other A. strepera, A. fuligula, A. ferina and A. penelope. No such differentiation was detected between goose species.
