| Summary: | The research was carried out on using of bat boxes by Nathusius' pipistrelle Pipistrellus nathusii in Verkiai regional park (Southwestern part of Lithuania) in 2004-2005. Totally there were erected 72 standard bat boxes - in 4 places clusters of 18 bat boxes (on one tree 3 bat boxes oriented to East, West and South). Bats started use bat boxes after 2-13 months. Nathusius' pipistrelle teritorial males before mating period use bat boxes with Western and Eastern (exposition) orientation. During mating-migration season formed clusters of bats considerably often used bat boxes of Southern exposition. The autums migration peak of Nathusius' pipistrelle registered in August (end of 1st decade-start of 3rd decade. The migration of bats lasted about 30 days. In bat boxes were founded single Brown long-eared bats Plecotus auritus, and in Picidae birds damaged bat boxes - Noctule bats Nyctalus noctula. |
