Description
Summary:A radio-linked telemetry seismic network was established around Syowa Station to studylocal seismicity and characteristics of seismic waves in the Lutzow-Holm Bay region, East Ant-arctica.More than 14000 events were recorded during the period from June 1987 to January 1989.Most of them were icequakes and continuous vibrations caused by glacier movements. However, 1043 teleseisms and 9 local earthquakes were identified. We studied the source location of thelocal earthquakes in relation to the geological structure. We also examined the location of seaiceshocks to discuss the velocity structure under the Ongul Islands.
