Summary:In recent years, the Antarctic continent has been an object of scientific, geopolitical and foreign policy–based interests. In this sense, Argentina has disclosed a map that includes the extended continental shelf, adjudicating the latter for herself, additionally, a number of southern territories that clearly affect Chilean interests, and its Antarctic projection. Under these conditions, the establishment of a new clash of representations and interests around the afore-mentioned platform demon-strates a projection of a vocation for natural resources, the position against its closest competitors, and a new dispute already unseated. In this article, we analyze the continental shelf as a geopolitical research problem, and future scenarios for Chile, in which Argentina, and Great Britain are competitors. Durante los últimos años, el continente antártico ha sido objeto de intereses, tanto científicos como de política exterior y geopolíticos. En este contexto, Argentina ha divulgado un mapa que incluye la plataforma continental extendida, adjudicándose una serie de territorios australes que afectan claramente los intereses chilenos y su proyección antártica. Bajo estas condiciones, el establecimiento de un nuevo choque de representaciones y de intereses en torno a la plataforma demuestra una vocación por los recursos naturales, el posicionamiento frente a sus competidores más cercanos y una nueva controversia de espacios marítimos ya desatada. En el presente trabajo, analizaremos la plataforma continental en tanto problema geopolítico, así como algunos escenarios futuros para Chile, en los cuales Argentina y Gran Bretaña son competidores.
