Description
Summary:Objective: The hypoglycemic effect of the infuso of Psoralea glandulosa “cullen” whole plant was determinated in normoglycemic Rattus rattus var. albinus.Materials and methods: 36 normogly-cemic rats was divided into three groups; Group I: Administration to 10 mL / kg infuso; Group II: Administration to 30 mL / kg infuso; and Group III: Administration of sterile distilled water (control). The operation was performed in four days. The basal glycemia was measured at 60 minutes and 120 minutes after administration of the product. Results: We found that on 1st and 4th day were significant differences in blood glucose measurements at 60 and 120 min compared with baseline. In the evaluation of blood glucose levels over the time; we’ve found significant differences between the three groups (p = 0.04). Also, we’ve found significant differences between applying a dose of 10 mL / kg and a dose of 30 mL / kg (p <0.001). The dose of 30 mL / kg has shown an average variation of glycemia levels of 7.89 ± 2.92%. Conclusions: hypoglycemic effect was found with the use of infused whole plant Psoralea globulosa “cullen” to 30 mL / kg in albino Rattus rattus var normoglycemic. ...
