Description
Summary:Objective. The objective of this research was to demonstrate the effect of aqueous extract of Tropaeolum tuberosum “Mashua” on memory impairment and lipid peroxidation induced liver fluoxetine and Rattus rattus var. albinus ooforectomizadas. Material and methods. Experimental research. This research was conducted in five groups, making a total of 29 specimens of the species females, in which only 24 of them were induced them to a process of menopause (ovariectomy). The groups were divided into: naïve, control which were administered fluoxetine 20 mg/kg at a concentration of 0.15 % for three initial weeks, problem 1 and 2, at a dose of 1 g / Kg at a concentration of 10 % and 2 g/kg at 20% concentration respectively.Results. Significant differences were found in the group receiving the 10%(1 g/kg. Tropaeolum tuberosumextract compared to that received only Fluoxetine (p = 0.002). There were no significant differences between groups or intra-group in the cognitive evaluation. Conclusions. The aqueous extract of 10% Tropaeolum tuberosum in doses of 1 g/kg has a decrease in the lipoperoxidation induced by Fluoxetine in Rattus rattus var. albinusooforectomized.
