Summary:In the northwest Greenland ice sheet, in-situ measurements of near-surface snow physical conditions, which can be used to estimate surface mass balance, are crucially lacking. Herein, we performed a glaciological field traverse expedition with a traditional Greenlandic dog-sled to obtain in-situ near-surface snow density and stratigraphy data in 2018 spring. We succeeded in obtaining these data from snow pits at four locations. Moreover, we observed the spatial variability of snow density at the SIGMA-A site. These data are in the easy-to-read excel format.
