Description
Summary:HORIZON GONIATITES CRENISTRIA FROM GLINNO (SOWIE GÓRY, SUDETEN MTS.)The Lower carboniferous sediments of the southern part of GIinno·(Friedersdarf) village in Sowie Góry (Eulengebirge) are situated within the Middle Stedeten Mountains (Fig. 1).For the first· time these sediments have been described by E. Dathe and L. Finckh (1923) and, at that time, divided into 2 parts, the lower part consisting of gneiss conglomerates with intercalations of gneiss sandstones, the higher of argillaceous shales and greywacke sandstones with limestone lenticels. As to the latter part, the authors report from Ostrzew hill (Spitzberg) 11 forms of plants; they also mention the occurrence of compressed specimens of gastropods of genus Euomphalus. In 1956, W. Grocholski surveyed anew the region of Glinno (Fig. 2);the major part of the lower strata of the Lower Carboniferous mentioned by the German scientists he identified as periglacial gneiss rubble.
