Description
Summary:The following three main stages of the penetration of the Ugric cultural component into the territory of the forest-steppe Trans-Urals in the Middle Ages can be presently outlined: Karym-Zelenogorsk (4th – 7th centuries), Batyr-Podchevash (7th – 8th centuries) and Petrogrom-Yudino (9th – 14th centuries). The scheme of phased penetration of the Ugric population into the forest-steppe Trans-Urals proposed by the authors is directly related to the cultural types and stages of the cultural genesis of the taiga Ob-Irtysh. However, the most recent Ugric Petrogrom-Yudino monuments with comb-cord ceramics (9th-13th centuries) do not belong to the aforesaid list of cultures and types. This is most likely due to the fact that the main region of the formation and subsequent development of these types is the mountain-forest and forest-steppe Trans-Urals. At the present stage of the accumulation of materials, it is becoming apparent that the materials from the settlement and burial complexes of the Yudino community actually have a lot in common with the Lower Ob circle of the 10th – 12th century cultures. Similarly, it should be recognized that its related forest Trans-Urals population with combcord ceramics can be correlated with the ancestors of the “Mansi”.
