Summary: | At the present day historiography has no one frame of mind about the time of breakdown of living on the city–site of Chersonese. In the North–eastern district (quarter XCVII) the assemblages of destructions, discovered in the late of 20th century, were investigated. Here consists a great number of material (amphoras, glazed ware, metallic items, numismatical fi nds) which allows to determine the time when the destructions happened and their potential causes. This material shows that the large part of the city–site of Chersonese (at any rate its North–eastern and Northern districts with the living houses and the industrial complexes) was extinguished unexpectedly as a result of catastrophical destructions and fi res. This tooke place in the latter half of 13th century(likely in 1278) during one of military expeditions of Mongols. As a consequence, the destroyed Chersonese and its environs became addicted to Mongols and were imposed a tax. The materials from the Chersonese districts go well together with the dates about the time of downfall of other monuments of the Crimea.
