Summary: | Moose (Alces alces) calves were raised in captivity in Ontario to study the association between ticks and moose. Calves were obtained from the following sources: 14 had been orphaned or abandoned; 29 were removed from cows when approximately 1-14 days of age; and 5 were collected at 6-8 weeks of age. Two of 3 calves were successfully raised in 1980, 4 of 27 in 1981, and all of 18 in 1982. Techniques used are described. |
