| Summary: | In this report the description of the southernmost representative of fi sh of a genus Harpagifer – H. antarcticus from the western coast of Antarctic Peninsula and waters of naighbouring archipelagos is given. This species is the only species of the genus Harpagifer which inhabits both in littoral and in upper sublittoral (up to 100 m) zones, in other words it belong to ecological group of littoral-sublittoral species. The fi shes catched on the Russian Antarctic station Bellingshausen in the period of time 2006–2011 made up the basis of the research material. Morphological peculiarities of H. antarcticus, its nomenclature and morphometric comparison with other representatives of the genus inhabiting the waters of the South-Western Atlantic and the Western Antarctic are realized. The problems of the systematic position of H. antarcticus as a valid species is descussed. Detail synonimy of the species with evidence of all mistake data of preceding investidators are complited. В данном сообщении представлено описание самого южного представителя антарктических рогаток Harpagifer antarcticus от западных берегов Антарктического п-ва, единственного вида рода антарктических рыб, которые обитают как в литорали, так и в верхней сублиторали (до 100 м), т.е. относящегося к экологической группе литорально-сублиторальных видов. Основу материала составили рыбы, пойманные на российской антарктической станции Беллинсгаузен в период 2006–2011 гг. Дано подробное морфологическое описание вида, проведено морфометрическое сравнение с другими представителями рода, населяющими воды Юго-Западной Атлантики. Обсуждаются вопросы систематического положения H. antarcticus как валидного вида, составлена детальная синонимия вида с указанием ряда ошибочных данных предыдущих исследователей.
