Summary: | The Bewickrsquo;s Swan Cygnus columbianus bewickii started to be documented in the Republic of Moldova in 2012. The species was observed during the wintering seasons of the last 10 years, in several places from the country that represent important migration and roosting sites for many waterbirds. The first observations in this country were completely incidental, while more consistent data began to appear after regular monitoring within the International Waterbird Census. In total, eight recordings of the Bewick`s swan were registered in Republic of Moldova in four distinct wetlands. Due to the fact that the winter numbers of Bewickrsquo;s Swans have been recently rising in the Black Sea region, there isn`t any specific study carried out focused on this species. This paper presents the first detailed analysis of the Bewickrsquo;s Swan distribution in the Republic of Moldova, providing basic information in order to understand the population dynamics of Bewickrsquo;s Swan in our country and in Eastern Europe.
