Summary:Berry wines are a popular product in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Produced both commercially and at home, these wines are made from small fruits that thrive on this land. Wine has been an important import commodity since European colonization in the sixteenth century, and later an important homemade product. Through archival research and an interview with a local berry wine maker, this paper articulates the localized significance of berry wines using the concept of terroir.
