Description
Summary:In the period 1 February to 2 March 1977 five echo surveys were made with R.V. "Peder Rønnestad" and R.V. "Johan Ruud" in Lofoten. The distribution of spawning Arctic cod was charted by counting the number of fish recorded per nautical mile on the echo sounder. There were apparently more cod present in the area than in 1976, but probably because of a deep transition layer between Atlantic and coastal water, the cod were generally distributed in deep water. The year classes 1969 and especially 1970 dominated in purse seine catches from Lofoten.
