Description
Summary:The Institute of Marine Research have monitored the environmental conditions in 27 fjord regions, important for herring and sprat fisheries, since 1975. This report describes the temperature, salinity, oxygen and inorganic nutrient conditions during late autumn in Tromsøsund, Ullsjord, Lyngenjord and Kvænangen in the Troms region. The observations show no long term changes in oxygen nor in nutrient concentrations during the period 1981- 1993. After 1981 a temperature increase appeared, which culminated in 1990 with temperatures 2-3 °C above the mean period 19 76-1981. In 1994 late autumn temperatures again were close to the long term mean.
