Description
Summary:Coastal cod, (Gadus morhua L.), hatched in the laboratory and reared in a large outdoor basin at Statens Biologiske Stasjon Flødevigen, have been tagged and released in coastal waters in southern Norway, in 1976 and 1977 respectively 712 and 371 at an age of 6 months and a length of about 10 cm. Till 1 January 1980 tag return has been about 4 and 10 percent for cod released in 1976 and 1977 respectively. About 90 percent of the cod were caught in the area of release by game fishing. The tagged cod showed the same growth rate as wild cod in the same area. The relative high percent recaptures of cod released in 1977 might indicate a potential high survival rate of cod reared in large basins.
